Compatibility

For Apple TV running tvOS 18 or later, controlled with the Siri Remote — or by dictation, or from a paired iPhone or iPad. The optional MessageStage Companion app runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 or later and talks to the television over your own home network.The companion requires MessageStage 2.0 on the Apple TV and the Pro unlock, which is purchased on the television. Schedules run only while MessageStage is open on the Apple TV; tvOS does not let an app switch a television on or interrupt another app.

Free, with a one-time unlock

MessageStage is free: create and display messages, Fit Screen, Marquee and Jump, up to twenty saved messages, a dozen templates, the core styles and basic Screen Care. No advertising and no watermark, ever. MessageStage Pro is a single purchase — not a subscription — that adds the other display modes, unlimited saved messages, all sixty templates, the advanced style controls, timers and countdowns, QR codes, photo backgrounds, playlists and schedules, iPhone control and iCloud sync. It supports Family Sharing.The price is shown in the App Store in your own currency. Restore Purchases is in Settings, without a paywall in the way.

Screen Care

Screens dislike a bright, still image left on them for hours. Screen Care changes position, colour and brightness patterns over time to reduce how long any one part of the picture stays lit. It cannot guarantee that image retention or burn-in will not occur, and it does not change your television's own settings.If you leave a message on an OLED or other retention-prone panel for long periods, follow the panel maker's own guidance as well.

Privacy

Nothing leaves your Apple TV unless you say so

MessageStage keeps your messages on your Apple TV. There is no account, no sign-in, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking of any kind, and the app works with the network switched off. The only connections it ever makes are the ones you switch on: an encrypted link to your own iPhone on your home network, and — if you choose — sync through your own private iCloud storage.
